Advisory on the scheduling of Covid-19 PCR Exit Tests Social Share
The Health Services Sub-committee in collaboration with the Molecular Lab Unit of the Laboratory Services of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment on January 9 advised the public of the following relative to the scheduling of COVID-19 PCR exit tests: The COVID-19 Task Force will not schedule appointments for sample taking (swab taking) for COVID-19 PCR exit tests if the result is required less than 72 hours after the date of the appointment. The Stewards Office of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital will not collect fees for COVID-19 PCR exit test results required less than 72 hours from the date of the appointment.
PSU calls for shift system Social Share
The Public Service Union (PSU) has called on the Minister of the Public Service to institute a shift system within the Public Service to mitigate against the possible shut down of entire Government departments should members of staff test positive for Covid-19.
In a release issued yesterday, the PSU said the number of adult nationals without recent travel history who have tested positive for COVID-19 “is evidence that the local threat from the coronavirus is continuing to grow at a worrying rate in St Vincent and the Grenadines.”
The release said many of the services provided at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital have been modified due to concerns about the spread of the disease.
MacKay Memorial Hospital donates prosthetic components to SVG

St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has received a donation from MacKay Memorial Hospital in Taiwan for the establishment of a prosthetic limb workshop.
On December 23, under a project funded by Taiwan’s International Cooperation and Development Fund and Teh Lin Pros & Ortho Inc., 100 sets of prosthetic components were donated to this country.
At the donation ceremony, SVG’s Ambassador to Taiwan Andrea Bowman expressed thanks on behalf SVG and said over 80 per cent of the amputations performed at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital are linked to diabetes.
Covid-19 patient admitted to Argyle isolation facility with shortness of breath

One adult returning national who was reported as Covid-19 positive on December 13 has been admitted to the Argyle Isolation Facility.
A release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) said the patient reported shortness of breath and after initial assessment and stabilization at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, was transferred to the Isolation Facility on December 24 for further care.
The release, dated December 26, also noted that St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) today confirmed an additional new COVID-19 case.
