Premier Financial: Q1 Earnings Snapshot

DEFIANCE, Ohio (AP) Premier Financial Corp. (PFC) on Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $41 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Defiance, Ohio-based company said it had profit of $1.10.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 76 cents per share.
The holding company for First Federal Bank of the Midwest posted revenue of $87.6 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $82.8 million, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $75.3 million.

Premier Bank has hired Varun Chandhok as executive vice president and its latest chief information officer.
Chandhok fills a post last held by Doug Young, who joined The Home Savings and Loan Co. the banking subsidiary of the former United Community Financial Corp. in 2016.
UCFC merged with First Defiance Financial Corp., the Defiance-based parent company of First Federal Bank of the Midwest, to establish Premier Financial Corp., Premier Bank s Youngstown-based holding company.
Chandhok joins Premier from M&T Bank, where he most recently served as CIO – regulatory, risk, financial crimes and corporate technology and where he focused on strategic consolidation, architecture and capability evolution across multiple functions.
