As part of measures to expedite the reopening of the Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Benin which was recently closed down for reorganisation as a result of the removal of the Ohenosa (Chief Priest), Mr Harrison Okao, the Elders Council has been dissolved.
A statement yesterday in Benin by Mr Frank Irabor, the secretary of Benin Traditional Council (BTC) explained that the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Ewuare ll, has approved the appointment of Chief Norense Obamwonyi as the chairman of the Interim Elders Council in place of the erstwhile acting chairman, Chief Jackson Omonomose Igbinovia.

Security agents at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos have intercepted 105.2 kg of suspected Cocaine wrapped in 40 packets on board a vessel; MV SPAR SCORPIO while discharging wheat at Josepdam Terminal.

Tribune Onlineexplained that the illicit drug was discovered, on Monday, while the vessel was being inspected by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), among others.
In a statement issued, on Tuesday, by the Public Relations Officer of Customs at the Tin Can Island Port, Uche Ejesieme, the Command confirmed that two parcels containing unknown substances were indeed seized at the ports on Monday.
LASU postpones exams
The postponement was due to the national industrial action by the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).
The
Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has announced the postponement of all outstanding 2019/2020 first semester examinations until further notice.
Ademola Adekoya, Coordinator, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, LASU, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.
He said the postponement became necessary due to the national industrial action by the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).
According to him, the industrial action by these unions has affected all academic activities.
