The Senate on Wednesday approved the appointment of Justice Salisu Abdullahi as the acting Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
The decision followed the consideration of the report of the screening carried out by the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.
The Chairman of the Senate panel, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, explained that the panel did not receive any objection to the conformation of the nominee.
The Senate President, called for a division after the consideration of the report and majority of the senators supported Abdullahi’s confirmation.

A journalist and publisher of Power Steering magazine, Oga Uhia, has lost his N110 million fundamental rights enforcement suit he instituted against the Minister of State for Power, Goddy Jedy-Agba, and police authorities, following his last year’s detention.
Mr Uhia was
detained by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja for close to one month between October and November last year based on a petition sent to the police by Mr Jedy-Agba.
He alleged in his suit that his arrest and detention were illegal and accused both the minister and the police of violating his rights.
