It’s summer, and there are plenty of fun things going out throughout Michigan that the entire family can enjoy.
Courtney Sheffer from the West Michigan Tourist Association has the details in this week’s What’s Happening in Northern Michigan.
Stroll the Streets in Boyne City
Boyne City invites you downtown to “Stroll the Streets” on Friday evenings this summer for live music, entertainment, children’s activities, and more. “Stroll the Streets” kicks off tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m., and runs every Friday through Labor Day. It’s a great chance to pop into some local shops and restaurants, or just enjoy the outdoor atmosphere downtown.

Now you don t even need to leave your living room to experience what Michigan has to offer.
The Western Michigan Tourist Association has set up multiple cameras for viewing all across the state of Michigan. The newest one is set up in Mission Point on Mackinaw Island. Lake Huron is a sight to behold this year with brilliant blues. Get a look, along with the green fields of Mackinac Island.
Some of the cameras include, but are not limited to:
Charlevoix: Get a view of the Charlevoix Harbor, with boats coming in and out.
Grand Rapids: The camera is placed on a building that gives you a view of the Grand Rapids River and its skyline.

The unofficial start of summer kicks off this weekend, and we have plenty of ideas to fill your summer weekends.

Mackinac State Historic Parks – Guns Across the Straits
The Mackinac State Historic Park locations are open for the season, and Colonial Michilimackinac in Mackinaw City has a new experience you can check out this year, called “Guns Across the Straits.” Visit at the end of the day, and you’ll get to learn about and fire all four of the historic black powder weapons used at Michilimackinac, including muskets, a mortar, and even the cannon. This special experience is available for one person every day at fort closing from June 5 until Oct. 7, so you’ll want to pick and book your day early.
