Agric Director assures farmers of getting PFJ fertilizer soon

Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, Upper West Regional Minister Mr Emmanuel Sasu Yeboah, the Upper West Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture, has assured farmers in the region that the government is working assiduously to make the subsidised fertilizer available. He said the current shortage of the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) fertilizer was a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had affected the quantities of the input produced to meet its growing demand. Mr Yeboah, who gave the assurance in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Wa at the weekend, said he had communicated to the appropriate authority regarding the shortage and the dire need for the input in the region.

  Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, the Overlord of the Wala Traditional Area, has stated that Ghana cannot be seen as a failed state despite the few challenges being experienced. “If for nothing at all, we have institutions that are working and Parliament is a classical example,” he said. Wa Naa Pelpuo IV stated this when the Defence and Interior Sub-Committee of Parliament led by its Chairman, Mr Kennedy Agyapong, called on him at his palace in Wa during a fact-finding mission on the recent military brutality in the area. He said the people were saddened by the incident but found it necessary to forgive, following the actions taken so far by the government and the Military High Command.

Military brutality in Wa: Culprits will be found, punished - Chief of Army Staff

705 The Military high command has promised to find the culprits of the unexplained attack by some military men on civilians in Wa and bring them to book. The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah, described the violent conduct by the personnel as unfortunate and unprecedented and would be dealt with according to military law. He said this when he led a high powered security delegation to meet the Wa Traditional Council and also apologise to the people of Wa through the Wa Na, Fuseini Pelpuo IV. Consequently, Maj. Gen. Peprah unreservedly apologised to the people of Wa for the incident.
