GREENVILLE, S.C. Michelin North America Inc. is adding 44 sizes to its X-Ice Snow winter tire lineup, expanding the line s market coverage to 93 percent.
The new sizes, to be phased in throughout the year, include the line s first 20- and 22-inch rim-diameter sizes and will bring the number of sizes to 123, the company said, covering 14- to 22-inch sizes. The bulk of the new sizes are in 19- and 20-inch sizes.
Launched in early 2020, the X-Ice Snow replaced the X-Ice Xi3 and Latitude X-Ice Xi2. At the time of the launch, Michelin said testing revealed that the X-Ice Snow tire features improved snow performance and braking compared with the Xi3 and stops nearly 10 feet shorter on ice than a leading competitor the Nokian Hakkappeliitta R3 SUV.

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. The Wheel & Tire Council (WTC) of the Specialty Equipment Market Association will conduct a webinar May 19 on National Tire Safety Week, featuring a pair of industry experts discussing ways dealers can educate customers about tire care, safety and challenges related to tires.
The webinar, set for 3 p.m. EDT on the 19th, is designed to help underscore the importance of National Tire Safety Week, the annual consumer tire safety awareness campaign conducted by the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association. It s scheduled for June 28 through July 4 under the theme: Do Your Part. Know Your Roll.
Our View: Replacement recovery is a promising sign

The U.S. passenger, light truck and commercial replacement tire segments have had the strongest recovery of all segments a year into the COVID-19 pandemic.
Consumer demand is increasing. More people are getting vaccinated, more pandemic safety protocols are being eased which means more people are going out and vehicle miles driven are increasing. Plus, a third round of stimulus checks has given consumers extra funds to spend.
Wholesalers and tire dealers many who kept a lean inventory last year are trying to stock up to meet the demand.
