As Vietnam is formulating its Socioeconomic Development Strategy for 2021-2030, continued renewal of the economyâs growth model will be fostered, with one of the key focuses to be laid on improving the quality of growth through digital solutions and improved technology transfer in line with Industry 4.0.

For the first time in the history of the National Party Congress, the words âtechnologyâ and âinnovationâ will take a more prominent role in the draft Political Report that is compiled for discussion by the Central Party Committee. The draft will be debated at the 13th National Party Congress, which will take place in Hanoi from January 25 until February 2.

Vietnam can see an annual growth of up to 6.8 percent in the 2021-2025 period if the global economy recovers from Covid-19 impacts.
In a best case scenario where the global economy recovers fast and the pandemic is contained, Vietnam’s should grow 6.72 percent this year, according to a report by the National Center for Socio-Economic Information and Forecast (NCIF).
Domestic manufacturing can return to pre-pandemic levels, public investment grows at 8 percent a year, and Vietnam will be able to take advantage of its free trade agreements, especially the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the report says.

Party Central Committee plenum completes preparations for 13th Congress
The 15th plenum of the Party Central Committee took place on January 16-17 with the completion of all the contents of its agenda.
At the plenum, the last of the 12th tenure, the Committee discussed and passed the lists of first-time nominees and the special cases to the Committee of the coming 13th tenure, as well as that of the nominees to the key leading positions of the Party and the State, among others.
Think tank forecasts 6.46 percent growth for Vietnam

A government think tank has pegged economic growth at 6.46 percent this year thanks to the country’s success in containing the Covid-19 outbreak and maintaining stability.
Vietnam is one of the fastest recovering economies in Asia, the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) said in a report.
In the best case scenario, credit growth would be 13 percent against 10.1 percent last year, it said.
But it also warned of risks that could hamper growth, like the unpredictable global economic situation as the pandemic situation remains severe in many countries and possible anti-dumping and countervailing investigations by the U.S. and other countries.
