Taipei, Jan. 20 (CNA) Another domestically transmitted COVID-19 case linked to a recent cluster infection in Taoyuan General Hospital was confirmed on Wednesday, according to health authorities.
Patients referred to other hospitals or discharged from a Taoyuan hospital where a COVID-19 cluster infection has occurred would be placed under 14 days of mandatory isolation, the Central Epidemic Command Center said yesterday.
The center’s extended quarantine standard also applies to 427 healthcare professionals.
Ten domestic cases two physicians, four nurses, three family members and a foreign caregiver have been reported since Tuesday last week, when a doctor tested positive after treating a COVID-19 patient at the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Taoyuan General Hospital.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) yesterday reported a domestic case of COVID-19 linked to a cluster infection at a Taoyuan hospital. The center also published some of the public spaces that three previously confirmed cases in the cluster visited from Tuesday last week to Monday.
Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shih-chung (陳時中), who heads the center, said the new case No. 870 is a woman in her 60s who is the grandmother of case No. 839, a nurse at the hospital whose infection was confirmed on Tuesday last week.
Over the past week, a total of 10 people linked to a government hospital in Taoyuan have tested positive for COVID-19, including two doctors, four nurses, a migrant caregiver and three family members of two nurses at the hospital.
