Mar 15, 2021 GLOVERSVILLE Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery announced that Linda Kollar will be its featured artist for March and April. Her show is titled “Colorful Collages.” Kollar’s passion for art started in high school where she took every art course offered, according to a news release. She received an AAS degree in advertising, design and production from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica. For 30 years, Kollar worked as a commercial artist, with the last 21 years in graphic design and production at the Olson Sign Company in Scotia. Kollar studied experimental water media with Karen Rosasco, learning to work with fluid and tube acrylics and to develop layers of texture within a painting.

Alexandria Bay facing summer without lifeguards

ALEXANDRIA BAY — Come summertime, there may be no lifeguards available to watch the village beach. According to village Trustee Julia Erck, nobody has applied to work as a village lifeguard yet this year. She said the village has had an ongoing issue getting enough lifeguards every year, but this year is the first time in recent memory they haven’t had any applicants at all. Facing a total lack of lifeguards for this year, Mrs. Erck said that if the village doesn’t get some applicants before the season begins, they’ll have to keep the village’s public beach closed.
