NOIDA: The Uttar Pradesh government has through a letter asked the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) to revise the detailed plan report (DPR) that was drawn by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for a metro line from Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park to Jewar International Airport.
DMRC had handed over the DPR of Rs 5,708-crore metro project to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). After approval, the DPR was sent to the state government. The track length from Pari Chowk to the terminal is 35.64km. YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh said, “The state government has asked NMRC to revise the DPR designed by DMRC. The number of stations is likely to be reduced from the initial plan. The new stations will now be built at strategic locations to increase airport accessibility. There is no change in the main budget and we will be meeting the NMRC very soon on this. The plan once cleared is likely to be implemented by 2024.”
NEW DELHI: The Rs 2,000 crore Formula One racing facility at Buddh International Circuit near Greater Noida is defunct and sealed, but the owners Jaypee Sports International moved the Supreme Court on Thursday to gather the crumbs as it sought refund of Rs 24 crore it had deposited with the court way back in 2011.
The opening edition of the F-1 race in 2011 at BIC saw frenzied response. It was attended by Vijay Mallya, who had not been declared fugitive by India yet. The UP government, intending to popularise motorsports in India, had exempted the event entertainment tax. But, one Amit Kumar filed a PIL in the SC challenging the exemption of entertainment tax to the event on the ground that motorsports has no socio-economic connection with the ground reality in India.
Activists said that despite discussions, none of the conservation activities have actually translated to work on the ground so far
NOIDA: Despite discussions and promises of conservation, Dhanauri wetland is a poor show for birders this migratory season. For those who have been trekking all the way up to the green fields and the main wetland area this season, it has not been much of an excitement because the main water body that is central to the wetland has shrunk and is crowded with hyacinth leading to very little surface water available for waterfowls a marked contrast to Surajpur which is a conserved wetland.
