GREATER NOIDA: A 100-bed trauma centre, the first such government facility in the district, will be constructed at a distance of 7km from the site of the Noida International Airport. Permission for the health facility, which will come up in Sector 22E of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), was given by health minister Jai Pratap Singh in August last year.
Officials said the hospital would be built on six acres and was likely to be ready in 2-3 years. The first phase of the Noida airport is also slated to start operations in 2023. The hospital would essentially augment emergency health infrastructure off the expressway, which often sees accidents turning fatal because of the delay in providing treatment to those injured. Moreover, it would cater to residents of nearby areas, who now have to travel almost 50km to the District Hospital in Sector 30 for any major treatment.

GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has decided to adopt a three-pronged approach to ensure the quality of construction of its projects. The move comes in the wake of the shelter collapse at a Ghaziabad crematorium, which killed 24 people on Sunday morning.
There have been allegations that materials used to build the shelter that collapsed were of inferior quality. Officials in the Muradnagar municipality, which had issued the work tender, had also admitted that it had failed to carry out an inspection of the project in the absence of a junior engineer. The contactor who built the shelter and three officials of the civic body, including a senior executive officer, have been arrested.
Logistics and tourism the long-term success of the Noida International Airport hinges mostly on these two axles.
Scheduled to start operations in 2023, the expansion of the airport is expected to continue till 2040. The first phase of the project is on track. The next phases will depend on the airport’s commercial success, which is where the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority’s (YEIDA) development plans for the region around the airport along Yamuna Expressway become a key factor.
The development model is symbiotic: while the airport itself will rely on the business and commerce scene in the National Capital Region, projects planned around it are both expected to contribute to the airport’s footfall while benefiting greatly from planes landing in their vicinity.
