Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Monday that State University of New York campuses will require COVID-19 vaccinations for students starting in the fall semester. The policy will also apply to the City University of New York, and Cuomo said he would encourage private colleges to adopt it as well. (TU)
The U.S. Treasury will start pumping $350 billion in relief funds to state and local governments with the first payments beginning in a matter of days, senior administration officials said. New York will receive $12.7 billion, while Albany County will receive $59.3 million and the city of Albany will get $80.7 million.

ALBANY, N.Y. – The union that represents correctional officers is suing New York State, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision over a new law limiting solitary confinement at state prisons.
The New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association announced the federal civil rights lawsuit Monday.
ATTICA â Six officers were treated for injuries last month after an inmate attack at Attica Correctional Facility, according to the state corrections officers union.
The incident happened April 20 when two officers were about to conduct a âcell frisk,â said New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association officials in a news release.
The officers ordered an inmate to exit the cell, according to NYSCOPBA. As the door was opened, the inmate jumped up from his bed and ran to the back of the cell, allegedly trying to flush an object down the toilet.
The two officers entered the cell and confronted the inmate, who allegedly struck one officer in the side of the face. The officers called for help and began to struggle with him.
