Police in Los Angeles have arrested a second suspect in connection with last week’s violent assault on a group of Jewish diners who were sitting at table outside a Japanese restaurant in the Beverly Grove neighborhood.
35-year-old Samer Jayylusi of Whittier, California was taken into custody early on Tuesday morning as a second suspect in the violent crime, the LAPD said.
Jayylusi was arrested in the city of Anaheim and was being held on $255,000 bail. Detectives will present the case before the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days and plan to seek hate crime charges, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.

BEVERLY HILLS On Tuesday, May 25, Lawrence Lawson was released from jail after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said there was not enough evidence to file a case. Lawson is accused of stabbing another male during a fight in Beverly Hills on May 20. The prosecutor stated that a nearby hotel did not have any cameras in the courtyard where the incident is believed to have transpired, City News Service reported.
The Beverly Hills Police Department responded to a call about an unconscious man found bleeding from several wounds at 200 N. Beverly Drive at around 1:45 a.m. on May 20. Paramedics from the Beverly Hills Fire Department treated the victim. He was transported to a local hospital where he is now listed in stable condition. After the investigation, the person was placed under arrest. He was charged with PC 664/187 – Attempt and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
