David Cory will be the new principal at East Ridge Elementary School. He previously served as assistant principal at Harrison Elementary School and has 20 years of experience in education.
Prior to joining Hamilton County Schools, Mr. Cory served as a principal for nearly 10 years in California. Before he became a principal, he was an assistant principal, taught elementary school for nine years, coached basketball as well as track, and led several technology initiatives.
Mr. Cory is passionate about motivating staff, students, and school communities to seek excellence, engage in a high-quality education, develop with integrity, and emerge as highly equipped citizens who are prepared to take on the challenges of the future.
General Assembly Approves Legislation To Increase Number Of Primary Care Physicians In Rural Communities Wednesday, May 5, 2021
A bill designed to increase the number of primary care physicians in Tennessee’s rural communities was approved by the General Assembly Wednesday. Senate Bill 298, sponsored by Senator Richard Briggs (R-Knoxville), establishes residency opportunities focusing on family practice, general pediatrics, internal medicine and psychiatry to provide medical and behavioral health services in Tennessee’s underserved and distressed rural counties.
“Over the past 25 years, the population of Tennessee has doubled, but the number of primary care physician residencies remains frozen at the same amount because of the lack of federal funding since 1996,” said Senator Briggs, who is a physician. “Under this legislation, rural hospitals and community health centers will have access to these residents which has been needed for a long time. COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. A Cocke County school resource officer lost his job for posts he made on Facebook.
The sheriff relieved Deputy Randy Cutshaw after an investigation lasting less than one day after the 10News team brought the social media posts to the attention of the sheriff s office.
The posts shocked and alarmed many members of the community, causing some to wonder if they could trust Cutshaw to protect their students at school.
