There were 48 cases of COVID-19 linked to the outbreak affecting 36 residents and 12 staff, according to an Interior Health media release. Twelve people died due to their illness. An outbreak is declared over when two incubation periods, or 28 days, have passed from the last onset of symptoms in a resident. Spring Valley Seniors Community is a long-term care facility operated by Park Place Seniors Living with 150 publicly-funded long-term care beds and one privately funded bed. June 16, 2021 - 3:17 PM B.C. health officials are announcing 113 cases of COVID-19, 31 from within the Interior Health region, for a total of 146,674 since the pandemic began. There are currently 1,454 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 134 people are currently hospitalized, with 41 of whom are in intensive care. There have also been four new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 1,738 deaths in B.C. The outbreak at Kelowna s Spring Valley Care Centre is now over. Vaccination rates edged up again today, and B.C. is reporting that 76.3% of all adults in B.C. and 74.6% of those 12 and older have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In total, 4,165,142 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C., 710,847 of which are second doses.

June 15, 2021 - 4:16 PM While there have been no new cases of COVID-19 this month at a Kelowna care home, the death toll has climbed by one to 12. There have been 48 cases of the virus connected to the outbreak at Spring Valley long-term care in Kelowna, including 36 of the 150 residents, according to an Interior Health media release issued today, June 15. Interior Health has not said if all the deaths are among residents of the care home. Currently, it s the only outbreak in the health authority now that the most recent one at Kelowna General Hospital has been declared over.
