St. Joseph s College in Standish is ticketing the students, WMTW-TV reported. College spokesman Oliver Griswold told the station St. Joseph s is “using all of the tools at our disposal to try to keep COVID off campus.” The college has issued more than 20 tickets over the past two weeks. Northern Light Health gets $1M from FEMA for vaccine clinic operations

By Staff Northern Light Health has received nearly $1 million in reimbursement for operating the  COVID-19 vaccination center at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. The Federal Emergency Management Agency said in a news release Monday it has awarded a grant of $928,706 to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, which stood up the vaccination center in January. The center can provide up to 900 inoculations per day. The grant covers a three-month period and pays for a variety of expenses, including the costs of personal protective equipment, materials for handling and administering COVID-19 vaccines, emergency medical care for vaccine administration and supplies for handling medical waste.

29-Year-Old Woman Accidentally Shot at Home by Boyfriend A 29-year-old Maine woman is recovering in the hospital after being accidentally shot at her home by her boyfriend. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said it happened Thursday in the town of Mariaville, just east of Bangor. WVII reports a 30-year-old man was cleaning his gun when it accidentally went off, striking the woman. She was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center with what police called non-life-threatening injuries. Get our free mobile app No charges have been filed. The Sheriff s Office says the case has been turned over to the district attorney’s office for review.
