Two hikers rescued after getting caught on ice floe on Georgian Bay

It was no walk in the park for two hikers near Tobermory. Grey Bruce OPP say the pair were walking on some ice along the shores of Bruce Peninsula National Park Sunday afternoon when a large chunk broke off sending the two hikers floating out towards Georgian Bay. Officers along with Bruce County Paramedics, Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire, and Parks Canada arrived at the scene near Cypress Lake Road around 2:30. A Hercules aircraft from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre  in Trenton was brought in as well as an OPP Aviation Services Helicopter from Orillia. The aircraft located the hikers who were three kilometres from shore while the helicopter rescued the hikers and brought them to shore safely.
