POLICE are investigating a serious incident in Darlington after a man was taken to hospital with injuries on Sunday night. A large police presence was reported near flats in the former Coachman Hotel in the town s Victoria Road last night. Police have not released any details of the incident, but it has been confirmed a man was taken to hospital.

WALKERS are urged to stay safe if they head for the hills this winter by mountain rescue volunteers who put their festive celebrations on hold to help injured hikers. Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team went to three callouts in three days. On Christmas Day, 18 volunteers helped North East Ambulance Service paramedics stabilise a casualty, who sustained a lower leg injury whilst walking along Hadrian’s Wall, and carry them to a waiting ambulance. On Christmas Eve, the teams were called to Rothbury to help a community paramedic stretcher a walker, who had hurt their leg, to a nearby ambulance.

A teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Hartlepool A TEENAGE girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a two-car crash in Hartlepool on Sunday. The girl suffered injuries to her abdomen and her shoulder, while a man also sustained head injuries, and planned to make his own way to hospital. The crash happened at the A689, Stockton Road at around 11am. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: Police attended a two vehicle collision on Stockton Road in Hartlepool near the Traveller’s Rest at 11.10am on Sunday. It involved a beige Skoda and a black Citroen C3.
