MISSED appointments potentially lost North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust £3 million during the pandemic, new data shows. Failed appointments waste time and heap pressure on consultants who already face “extraordinary demand” due to the virus, the British Medical Association has said. NHS Digital data shows that in the 11 months from April last year, there were 20,970 outpatient appointments which people did not show up for. It means out of 272,885 booked sessions, just eight per cent were unattended. Anna Stabler, Chief Nurse said: “We would urge anyone who cannot make an appointment to get in touch with us as soon as possible and arrange for a date or time that is more convenient.

Strike: Non-clincial support staff are to take more strike action GIVING support staff at the Cumberland Infirmary the ‘unsocial hours’ pay they were promised a decade ago would cost just £260,000 a year, says a union. Cameron Stewart wanted to give back in successful NHS cards campaign in North Cumbria

Thousands of cards are being delivered to NHS staff in North Cumbria thanks to the kindness of one man. Cameron Stewart from Penrith wanted to do something to say thank you to the NHS in Cumbria and decided to start a campaign to get thank you cards sent in for staff. Thanks to the help and support of a number of schools and businesses in the county, the Cameron has now delivered around 3000 cards to North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC) NHS Foundation Trust. I’m really grateful to our NHS I think they do an amazing job, said Cameron, 21. I have had excellent care at Carlisle and Penrith in the past in the past and I wanted to give something back.
