The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation (NCCF) is currently accepting applications for the Reverend Clifford K. Cliver and Lucy Cliver Sumsky Scholarship.
Rev. Cliver established the scholarship in 2015 to provide higher education financial assistance to adults who spent time in the foster care system as a child.
“Growing up as foster children, my late sister Lucy and I experienced firsthand those children in foster care must rely on the kindness and compassion of those in our community,” Cliver said. “Together, we wanted to increase the resources given to students who have been in foster care as it is vital to their well-being and improving their opportunities.”

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it is taking scholarship applications for the Terence J. Centner Agricultural and Environmental 4-H Scholarship. Terence (Terry) J. Centner established this fund to honor his parents Harry E. and Mary Ellen Centner, in honor of their dedication to the Chautauqua County 4-H program.
Each year, a scholarship is awarded to a high school senior attending a 4-year college or university and has completed an outstanding agricultural or environmental 4-H project. Graduating seniors from Brocton, Dunkirk, Forestville, Fredonia, Ripley, Silver Creek and Westfield are encouraged to apply.
The Centners helped a generation of 4-Hers enjoy many projects and activities. As Jacob Lesch, a former 4-H member and scholarship recipient, stated, “4-H has allowed me to be the best version of me I can be. I have gained a strong work ethic, responsibility, pride in my work, and other priceless skills that will serve

Residents Are Warned Not To Share Photos
The Better Business Bureau is issuing a warning to area residents not to share a photo of vaccination cards on social media. The self-identifying information on it makes people vulnerable to identity theft and can help scammers create phony versions. The card has a vaccine recipient’s full name and birthday on it, as well as information about where they got their vaccine. If social media privacy settings aren’t set high, people may be giving valuable information away for anyone to use. Sharing personal information isn’t the only issue. Scammers in Great Britain were caught selling fake vaccination cards on eBay and TikTok, and Better Business Bureau officials said it is only a matter o
When COVID-19 struck the world, many organizations were forced to cancel their fundraising events.
To the Union Relief Association of Westfield, this was devastating. Union Relief typically holds several fundraisers during the year to raise money to support their mission of giving temporary relief to people in the Westfield area who may be struggling and in need of a little assistance.
The need is often the greatest during the holiday season and annually Union Relief organizes a Christmas program to help Westfield families and senior citizens.
Union Relief’s biggest fundraiser for the Christmas program is the Charity Ball, which has been held every year for almost 100 years. However, without COVID subsiding, it was impossible to safely hold this long-standing event. Members of the organization, faced with a year where community need was greater and program expenses were projected to exceed $ 10,000 dollars, decided to reach out to the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation
