MARSHALL, Minn. (KEYC) â The NFL Draft is finally here, and itâs a big day for one of our area communities with a former star quarterback waiting to hear his name called in the first round.
From dominating on the gridiron as a Marshall Tiger and North Dakota State Bison, the next stop for quarterback Trey Lance is the National Football League.

By Zac Wassink | Last updated 4/29/21 Fans of the New England Patriots hoping that current San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo could return to the team that drafted him back in 2014 received some bad news ahead of the start of this year s player selection process.
Roughly 30 minutes before the kickoff of the 2021 NFL Draft, NFL Network s Ian Rapoport explained that salary-cap issues will likely prevent the Patriots from trading for Garoppolo during the draft that runs through Saturday:
I would never say never. But the #Patriots aren’t expected to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo tonight or anytime soon. If the two sides could even come to terms (a big if), it would take a complex contract negotiation to get it done. Simply, NE doesn’t have room to fit the contract. Trey Lance new betting favorite to be No. 3 pick in NFL Draft? By Zac Wassink | Last updated 4/29/21
It appears wacky and fun prop bets aren t the only NFL Draft lines bettors will want to refresh before the player selection process opens Thursday night.
Roughly five hours before the Jacksonville Jaguars will (likely) select Clemson Tigers superstar Trevor Lawrence with the draft s first overall pick, BetOnline.ag listed North Dakota State Bison quarterback Trey Lance as the overwhelming favorite to be taken third, presumably by the San Francisco 49ers, at -210.
Alabama Crimson Tide signal-caller Mac Jones became the favorite to be drafted third overall at -115 back on April 21 but has now fallen to +150. Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields, the betting favorite to be San Francisco s choice earlier this month, headed into the second half of Thursday afternoon at +700.
FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jake Malec’s one-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning lifted the North Dakota State Bison to a 5-3 win over Valley City State Tuesday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. It was the 75th meeting between the two schools and the first since 2017.
Jack Simonson led off the eleventh with a single. Calen Schwabe tried to bunt him over, but his bunt was too hard and pitcher Matthew Suda was able to field the ball and throw Simonson out at second. But the relay was not in time to get Schwabe. Then Schwabe moved to second base when Suda tried to pick him off, but his high throw went off the glove of first baseman Jorun Hamre and into foul territory to advance Schwabe. Then Malec skied a uda pitch high into the night twilight sky, right fielder Dustin Mertz could not pck up the ball right away, but it wouldn’t have matter. Malec shot clear the right field fence for the game winning home run. t was Malec’s seventh of the season.
