The merging of two rivers – Sungai Timah and Sungai Tasoh – bestow upon this man-made lake in Perlis its singsongy alliterative name.
Calm and serene, Lake Timah-Tasoh is a popular spot among locals and tourists in the northernmost state of Malaysia. Many flock here in the early morning and late evenings to enjoy the picturesque views of the waters.
The lake, with views of undulating hills in the distant horizon, is a perfect place to catch some peace and quiet. The place has always been referred to as “Malaysia’s Guilin” due to its beautiful hilly backdrop.

BATU PAHAT (Bernama): A human skull was found at KM122.4 of the North-South Expressway from Yong Peng heading to Pagoh near here on Friday (Feb 19).
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Ismail Dollah said the human skull is believed to be of a car driver who was involved in a road accident about 10 months ago.
He said the police were alerted on the discovery at 1.10 pm when highway maintenance workers were cleaning a slope drain on the left side of the highway. The skull was found near a car that was hidden behind the bushes on the slope, about 67m from the highway.
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 19): Mah Sing Group Bhd will be developing 100 acres (40.47ha) of landed residential development in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi. Subject to market conditions and the relevant authorities’ approval, the development is tentatively named as M Senyum and has an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM656 million. The development is expected to be developed over five years, with registration of interest and the project launch targeted to start in the second half of 2021 (2H21).
“M Senyum will comprise mainly double-storey terraced houses, with land sizes of 18ft by 65ft and 20ft by 70ft, and are indicatively priced from RM399,000. This aligns with the group’s strategy of focusing on affordable landed homes in the outskirts/suburban areas and affordable high-rises in the central business district areas,” it said in a press statement.
