This comes on the heels of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s announcement earlier today (April 1) that all individuals in the Commonwealth over the age of 16 should be eligible for the vaccine starting Sunday, April 18. “I know that our residents are looking forward to getting vaccinated and to be able to again spend time with their loved ones,” Fairfax County Board pf Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay said in a statement to Reston Now. “Fairfax County is ready and prepared to move forward to meet the Governor’s and President Biden’s deadlines. I’m excited that we can continue to open eligibility and vaccinate even more people.”

Maryland Set to Become Fifth State to Ban Cosmetic Animal Testing

Shares The Maryland State Legislature just voted to pass new legislation that would ban the testing of cosmetics on animals across the state. The new legislation, called Prohibition on Testing Cosmetics on Animals (PTCA), would come into effect on January 1, 2022 and bans both the sale of cosmetics tested on animals and the contracting of entities to test cosmetics that are in development on animals. It also bans animal testing for individual ingredients and third-party manufacturers. PTCA is now headed to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan for signature and if passed, would make Maryland the fifth state to pass a cosmetic animal testing ban.
