May 14 date for event in downtown
ELIZABETHTON â Plans are underway to bring back another popular downtown event this year as Project Move wants to hold another Evenings on Elk on Friday, May 14, from 5-9 p.m.
Evenings on Elk were hosted by Project Move in 2019 and proved to be popular, drawing big crowds to downtown during hours when shops were normally closed. Just as in previous Evenings on Elk, the event will take place in the downtown blocks of East Elk Avenue and East E Street and there will be food trucks located at âThe Gathering Hub,â a private lot at the corner of East E and Elm streets.

On Pakistan s India policy the latest controversy to surface is related to the question of trade. Between March 30 and April 2, several announcements were made by the government which inevitably raised several questions: has Pakistan flip-flopped again on a key policy matter? Which stakeholder on foreign policy forced the final decision? Is the prime minister confused? Is the prime minister not getting the space to take independent decisions on a key policy issue like India? Is the government s decision-making process proceeding in isolated pockets or, worse, in silos? Perhaps some of these are perennial questions related to Pakistan s decision-making process, especially where it involves foreign policy and national security matters.
Next month, Sandwich voters will be asked to begin implementing the townâs ambitious water cleanup plan, which includes engineering sewer pipe layouts and other wastewater infrastructure.
Specifically, taxpayers will be asked to approve the first disbursement of funds from a special water infrastructure investment fund, better known by its nickname, âWIIF.â
âThis will get us on the pathâ toward a $80 million, 25-year plan to clean up Sandwichâs ponds and properly dispose of its wastewater, Town Manager George H. (Bud) Dunham told members of the Sandwich Finance Committee this week.
At the May 3 annual Town Meeting, the public will be asked to allocate $1 million of the fund for preliminary engineering reports on collecting and moving sewage as well as its treatment and disposal.
Vilsack on U.S. Fresh Potatoes to Mexico Pt 2
Thursday Apr 1st, 2021 I’m Bob Larson. American potato growers have been waiting patiently for the Mexican Supreme Court to rule on that countries’ ban on U.S. fresh potato imports, without much news of late.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says he spoke recently with Mexico’s Ag Secretary Villalobos who seemed optimistic a positive ruling would be coming soon, but adds if it doesn’t …
VILSACK … “Then the second process that we engaged in is correspondence with the U.S. Trade Representative’s office. And, I’ll have an opportunity later this week to visit with the newly-confirmed trade ambassador to encourage her to do what I think she’s already inclined to do, which is to make sure that there is enforcement of the terms and conditions and the spirit of the USMCA.”
Below, we break down the drama, so beware of major spoilers ahead.
Lipâs Bad Business Deal
When Lip learns that Kev and V sold their house quickly for a good price to a developer looking to acquire property on the block, he immediately gets in touch with the developer, who sends someone to the house. The woman representative offers Lip $200,000 for the lot, but heâs looking to make more and asks if sheâs willing to bump it up to $300,000. They settle at a possible offer of $275,000, and Lip rushes off to tell Tami (Kate Miner) the news.
