1/1 A VICIOUS thug knocked an 11-year-old s teeth out during a frenzied attack in Worcester, stamping repeatedly on the boy s face. Qamran Ali, of Worcester, who was high on crack cocaine, attempted to choke a chicken to death before he launched the onslaught on the sensitive boy who lay asleep and utterly defenceless. The former carpet fitter and taxi driver punched, kicked and stamped on the child s face, knocking out four of his teeth before assaulting a woman, splitting her lip, and another child who tried to intervene as the boy screamed out in pain. Judge Nicholas Cole, one of Worcester s most senior and experienced judges, said it was the most serious case of assault occasioning actual bodily harm he had ever had to sentence when he jailed the 41-year-old thug at the city s crown court on Thursday.

A man has today appeared in court charged with the murder of a model and trying to kill an eight-year-old child.
Charles Byrne, 24, of Worcester, was arrested on Thursday night after police pulled a Christina Rowe s body from the river Severn.
He today appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court charged with murder and attempted murder.
Byrne was remanded into custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on February 16 for a further case management hearing.
The accused, who stood in the doc alongside one prison officer, was wearing a grey tracksuit, blue disposable mask and stood looking down with his arms crossed only speaking to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
