Woman who ran shelter to be assessed by psychiatrist

Cape Town - Nearly two weeks after being accused of assaulting two teenagers by allegedly chaining one to a bed, a Worcester woman will be assessed by a psychiatrist.
Galinda Nelson made an appearance in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court yesterday where the court ordered that a psychiatrist would evaluate her.
Nelson, who is currently out on a warning, was to be escorted by two officers to attend the first appointment for evaluation by a psychologist at the Thuthuzela Care Centre.
But when Nelson refused to be escorted by the officers, the appointment had to be cancelled.

Worcester Magistrates Court heard how the 25-year-old had smoked cannabis and drunk alcohol, making him unfit to drive. When challenged by officers, Kelly woke up and drove off at around 34mph over a distance of around a mile and a half. Kelly, of New Road, Rednal admitted dangerous driving which included failure to stop when required and driving while unfit through drink and drugs on the southbound carriageway between junction 5 (Droitwich) and junction 7 (Worcester south) on August 23 last year.
A round-up of some of the latest cases from Kidderminster Magistrates Court. TWO Stourport men accused of conning a woman into paying for unnecessary works will face trial. Jason Frederick Jones, 26, of Power Station Road, and Jason William Jones, 49, of Worcester Road, both appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on April 14, each charged with six fraud and unfair trading offences. Both entered not guilty pleas to all six of their charges and elected a trial by jury, which has been scheduled for May 12 at Worcester Crown Court. The pair are accused of committing fraud between October 31 and November 2, 2019 by dishonestly making false representations to a Jean Ashton, which they knew were untrue or misleading, and by intending to make a financial gain by carrying out unnecessary works.
