Luis Tiru-Romero, victim in July Worcester shooting, dies; 32-year-old Jose Antonio Merced now charged with murder Updated Feb 01, 2021; A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder after the victim in a July 9 shooting in Worcester, identified in court records Monday as Luis Tiru-Romero, died over the weekend, months after being shot in the chest and head, authorities said. Jose Antonio Merced, who had previously been arrested on assault to murder charges hours after the shooting on Mount Pleasant Street in Worcester, was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Worcester District Court on Monday, according to prosecutors. Police responded to the shooting at 6 Mount Pleasant St. shortly after 4:50 p.m. on July 9 and found a man inside the hallway suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and head, authorities wrote in a police report. He was in critical condition.

Telegram & Gazette The father of a mentally ill Leominster man who died after a well-being call to his home in 2018 has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that undertrained officers botched the call and that Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. conducted a “charade” investigation. “Within minutes the officers transformed (a) wellness check into a death sentence,” Hector E. Pineiro, the lawyer representing the father of 39-year-old Kris Mailloux, alleged in a suit filed Wednesday, Jan. 13 in U.S. District Court in Worcester. Mailloux died several days after two officers responding to a well-being call restrained him on the floor of his grandmother’s home at 384 West St. on Jan. 14, 2018.

Templeton EMT Tracy Ferrazza died in Sunday crash in Gardner

GARDNER - A Templeton emergency medical technician has been identified as the victim of Sunday night s fatal crash on Route 2A. Tracy Ferrazza, 52, of Templeton, was killed in the single-car crash, according to a spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.   Ferrazza s car left the road, struck a utility pole and overturned. She died at the scene, authorities said. Ferrazza was a mother to two boys. Her brother, Keith Massalski, said she was literally the epitome of the person that does everything for everybody else except for her. Ferrazza had worked as a personal care assistant for handicapped individuals, and with children with mental and physical disabilities, Massalski said.
