Clinton Fire Captain Jason Burton was honored by the Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. on Tuesday.

A Clinton firefighter was honored by the Worcester District Attorney’s office on Tuesday for his quick response, which saved his neighbor’s life in November.
Capt. Jason Burton was presented the District Attorney’s Team Excellence and Merit - or TEAM - Award for providing life-saving CPR to his neighbor.

Crash on Route 2A in Gardner leaves driver dead

A driver died in a single-car crash in Gardner Monday morning, according to the Worcester District Attorney’s office.
Authorities had limited information on the crash, but said it occurred on Route 2A around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
The gender of the driver was not released, and the district attorney’s office did not publicly identify the driver as officials notified family members.
According to the district attorney’s office, a car left the roadway, struck and telephone pole and rolled over. The driver died at the scene of the crash.
OXFORD A 55-year-old woman was hit by a car and died Wednesday night at Main Street and Fairlawn Avenue, according to Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
The victim was identified as Wendy Hibbard. She appeared to have been crossing the road when she was struck, Early said Thursday.
No charges have been filed. The name of the driver was not released.
The crash, which occurred at about 7:15 p.m., remains under investigation by Oxford police, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council reconstruction team and the Worcester District Attorney’s Office.
There was a person inside the RV that unfortunately couldn t be saved, said Chief Dean Kochanowski of the Dudley Fire Department. We have hydrants up in this area, but the water pressure is a little low right in this particular area.
Crews from several neighboring departments responded to the scene. The State Fire Marshal s Office and the Worcester District Attorney s Office has been called in to investigate.

Halloween shooting in Worcester left woman partially paralyzed; suspect shot at another home in Fitchburg weeks later, authorities say

The Fitchburg man facing charges in a Worcester Halloween shooting that apparently left a woman partially paralyzed was involved in another shooting just a couple weeks later in Fitchburg, according to court records.
Phillip T. Palmer, 42, is currently in custody after he was arraigned in court in connection with a Nov. 17 shooting in Fitchburg where a home was shot.
Weeks earlier, in Worcester, Palmer fired shots into a Worcester home leaving a woman inside partially paralyzed, investigators said in search warrant affidavits and police statements filed in Worcester District Court.
