Three new cases of COVID-19 reported by Health Unit SHARE ON: Illustration of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus 2, the cause of COVID-19 (Alissa Eckert, MS, Dan Higgins, MAMS) The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is reporting three cases of COVID-19, two of which are in the Nipissing District. One case is a person between 20 and 39, another is between 40 and 59 and the third is under the age of 19. Two of the cases are the result of close contact while one is due to community spread. All three are now self-isolating. With one resolved case added, there are now 18 active cases of COVID-19 in the region, six of which are in the Nipissing District.

SHARE ON: 19 people had been infected as part of an COVID-19 outbreak at Nipissing University The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit confirmed on Tuesday that all nineteen individuals have recovered. The health unit is asking the public to continue to practice COVID-19 public health measures, warning that although the community outbreak is over, a number of individuals who were not associated with the outbreak are testing positive for COVID-19.

All new cases, three in Nipissing and one in Parry Sound, were community spread. Two cases involve people aged 20 to 39 and two others involve people aged 60 to 79. All are at home isolating. There have been 122 cases in the district, 105 declared resolved and one death. One person from Parry Sound remains in hospital. The last COVID-19 update was provided on Christmas Eve.

Risk to COVID-19 eliminated at Cassellholme

An email from the home to residents’ families states “the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has followed up with Cassellholme; the visitor has retested negative for COVID-19.
