Sister Marguerite Moya Coyne, who served as the superintendent of schools for the Catholic Diocese of Greensburg from 1998 to 2003, was known for her love of children and education, her friends and co-workers said.
“She was a stellar woman and one of the best persons I’ve ever worked with,” said Monsignor James Gaston, who was director of education and spiritual formation when Coyne was associate superintendent of Catholic schools in the Greensburg diocese.
Coyne, 80, a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph of Baden, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, in Baden.

More than 1,000 students were awarded undergraduate and advanced degrees and certificates during Youngstown State University recent fall commencement, including 334 students from the Mahoning Valley region.

In the year 2020 when nothing was certain, there was still one item art teachers were determined to assure would be able to showcase the talent and hard work of their students.
This year’s Scholastics Art and Writing Competition was able to be pulled off in more of the most unforgettable and forgettable years we have ever seen. Over 40 teachers from Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana, and Ashtabula counties entered over 300 works from students in drawing, painting, photography, digital art, and more to be judged at the regional level to see who would represent our area and compete at the national level this coming spring.
