FAISALABAD: The LPG Industries Association has dispatched a list of more than 100 policemen to the city and regional police officers, alleging these officials have been receiving monthly bribe from different LPG distributors and shopkeepers.
The association sought a probe into the issue so that the police department could be purged of the such black sheep.
The association chairman, Irfan Khokar, dispatching the list (a copy available with Dawn) alleged that as many as 110 policemen of 12 police stations of Faisalabad had been receiving bribe from the shopkeepers.
He alleged that station house officers (SHOs) monthly take Rs5000 to Rs7000, ASIs Rs1000-Rs2000, guards Rs1000-2000, drivers Rs500-1000, cops on motorcycles Rs1000-2000, moharrars Rs1000-2000 and constables Rs500-1000 from the association members.

The federal government on Friday decided to keep oil prices unchanged in a bid to provide relief to consumers in the holy month of Ramazan. The Ministry of Finance said in a statement that in line with the vision of PM Imran Khan to provide relief to consumers in the holy month of Ramazan, the government has decided not to increase the prices of petroleum products.
The implementation of this proposal requires an adjustment in the rates of petroleum levy on all petroleum products and a reduction in sales tax as well regarding kerosene oil and light diesel oil. The government is not charging any petroleum levy on kerosene and light diesel oil. The cumulative revenue impact of the decision will be Rs4.8 billion.

The government has decided not to increase the prices of petroleum products as per vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to provide relief to consumers in the holy month of Ramazan. According to the Finance Division, existing prices of petrol, Rs108.56 per litre, High Speed Diesel Oil, Rs110.76 per litre, kerosene oil, Rs80 per litre, and light diesel oil, Rs77.65 per litre, will continue with effect from Saturday. ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has appointed an independent third-party inspector for conducting testing of gas meters of industrial and commercial gas consumers to address consumer complaints of overbilling and one-sided fines.
“It is circulated for information of industrial and commercial consumers of natural gas/ RLNG that the authority in pursuance of Clause 8.2 of Natural Gas Measurement (Technical Standards) Regulations 2019 has authorised Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP) on its behalf for witnessing inspection of gas meters,” Ogra announced on Tuesday.
