Petersburg native Danny Blue always wanted to see his face in a children’s book.  Not his face exactly, but one of a kind, excited Black boy, spreading positivity to his peers. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ample time to stretch out his writing skills, Blue wanted to put his passion to the test and write a children’s book. Jaylen, the Joyous Black Boy, birthed from the minds of Blue with illustrations from his college friend, Tim Myers.  Blue sources inspiration from the former Nickelodeon cartoon Little Bill, whom he said made him feel confident in his own skin as a little boy.
