Universal Robots (UR), Denmark-based collaborative
robots (cobots) manufacturer, has advised Vietnam’s manufacturing industry
leaders to implement cobots to address skills and labour shortage as well
as achieve higher productivity.
In
2020, the manufacturing sector played a pivotal role in driving Vietnam’s economy,
contributing to 5.82 percent in the economy. Additionally, it accounts for
16.69 percent of the GDP of Vietnam.
According
to Nikkei and IHS Market, the Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index
(PMI) reflected 51.7 points in December, up from 49.9 in November. Hence,
business conditions in the Vietnamese manufacturing sector witnessed gradual
improvement.

COVID-19: 30 cases reported on May 11 afternoon
Vietnam documented 30 cases of COVID-19 during the past six hours to 6pm on May 11, with three imported cases and 27 cases among people being quarantined, according to the Health Ministry.
No new clusters were detected in the period.
The national count rose to 3,537, including 528 reported since April 27.
The number of recovered patients reached 2,618. Among active patients, 25 have tested negative for the coronavirus once, 17 twice and 25 thrice.
A total 67,877 people are being quarantined nationwide, with 1,018 in hospitals, 27,641 in designated facilities and 39,218 in their places of residence./.

Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia congratulate new Foreign Minister
Foreign ministers of Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia have extended congratulations to Bui Thanh Son on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In a phone talk with his Vietnamese counterpart on April 9, Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith said he believes that Son will lead his ministry in efforts to reap more successes in foreign affairs.
Saleumxay Kommasith is the first foreign minister to make a congratulatory phone call to the Vietnamese newly-appointed minister.
