The Congress party today made a clean sweep of Punjab s seven municipal corporations in the state local body polls. The party bagged almost all the bodies for which the results were declared today: Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Abohar, Pathankot, Batala, and Bathinda - the last one also being the most stunning result of the day as it was after 53 years that the city was returning to the Congress fold. While there was no clear winner in Moga, the Congress remained the single largest party. Mohali s results will be declared only tomorrow.

New Delhi: Farmers sitting on protest against the Government s new farms laws have started preparing to face the scorching summer heat at Singhu village. They are planning to install fans, coolers, generators at the protest site.
There are two stages set up at the Singhu protest site one stage facing toward Delhi where the protesting farmers can be seen sitting at an open space, while the second stage is near Kundli village (border area of Delhi and Haryana), which is fully covered with tarpaulin.
The Delhi Police on Wednesday said that a station house officer was attacked by an agitator with a sword at the Singhu border protest site here. The SHO suffered grievous injuries in the attack. He has been identified as Ashish Dubey, SHO of Samaypur Badli. The incident took place on Tuesday night.
