Pirates, treasure, parrots, swords, skulls and crossbones are the things of books and movies. From Treasure Island to Pirates of the Caribbean, everything about pirate life is exciting and daring.
I raised three little swatch buckers who played pirates all over the house and all over the yard and through the trees. I even buried a little treasure box full of chocolate coins and hid it in the yard. Once the kids got their swords, eye patches and pirate hats on, I handed them a map I had made with clues to the treasure. It was so much fun to watch them look for it. The treasure hunt was a huge success and one of my fondest memories of our days of play.
Getting Rid Of Weeds Can Be Easy and Safe, Here’s What You Need
Weeds are a never-ending problem for many people. It seems like as soon as you pull them all, they are growing right back up again. The weeds take over before you know it and suddenly you have a yard full of dandelions.
As for me, I don t mind the weeks, as long as I keep the weeds from overtaking my flowers and bushes, I m good. My husband, on the other hand, hates weeds. He goes to great lengths to kill ALL of the weeds. He even weeds the whole yard. It s crazy.
How To Cook Delicious Morel Mushrooms
You know when it s springtime in the midwest, it s also time for mushroom hunting. In the Tristate, Morel mushrooms are a favorite season delicacy. Weekends, and sometimes early mornings are spent hunting the forest floor for the delicious fungi.
They are just beginning to pop up all over in Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. The hunting season for us starts in April and, if you live more north, until June. This weekend, I had family members photos on social media displaying their spoils. My cousin took her granddaughter out for the first time. We all grew up mushroom hunting. My grandma s Hollar was the best place to find mushrooms. If you ve never been before, you may not understand the whole morel mushroom craze.
My dad celebrates a huge birthday this year. He turns 80 years old. This past weekend, we gathered family and friends to help his kids and grandkids celebrate him and the wonderful life of love he has built. It was a truly magical day that made our hearts sing.
I ve shared with you my dad s diagnosis of Alzheimer s and each time I go visit him, which isn t nearly enough, I wonder how long it will be before he doesn t recognize me. most of the time, he does. He just gets me confused and thinks I m my mom or one of his sisters. But, then he catches himself and corrects himself. I know it s only a matter of time, but that makes me really cherish and appreciate the time I have with him now.
If you are a native of Evansville, there are a couple of things you know. 1) People on the west side think people on the east side are uppity, cake-eating rich people. 2) People on the east side think people on the west side are a bunch of inbred hilljacks who live in cornfields. But, despite that friendly division, I think we can all agree that if the city had an official potato chip, it would be Bar-B-Q Grippos, specifically those you get in the white box because they seem to have more BBQ coating on every chip compared to those you get in a bag. The blend of BBQ spices has become such a favorite, the company started bottling it and selling it so fans could mix it into hamburger patties, sprinkle it on chicken, or maybe just pour it straight into their mouths. I m not here to judge.
