Frontline City of Milwaukee employees will be the first to get vaccinated at a new city-run COVID-19 vaccination hub at the Wisconsin Center, but they won’t be the last, officials say.

Milwaukee officials hope the Wisconsin Center District will open Tuesday as a vaccination site for those in the first group prioritized to receive the coronavirus vaccine, Mayor Tom Barrett said Friday.
Training will take place there on Monday for public health nurses who will administer the vaccine before it opens the next day.
Barrett anticipated that demand for the vaccine would increase dramatically in the coming weeks and months.
In the next two to four weeks, health officials anticipate starting to transition into providing vaccinations to those who are in the 1A group but who are not city employees, interim Health Commissioner Marlaina Jackson said.
