Durban - Department of Home Affairs Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has confirmed that additional officials will be deployed to borders including the Beitbridge Border Post with Zimbabwe, Lebombo Border Post with Mozambique, Oshoek Border Post with Kingdom of Eswatini, Maseru Bridge with Lesotho, Ficksburg with Lesotho and Kopfontein with Botswana between January 2 - 14 as high traveller volumes are expected due to the influx of people returning to SA.
Speaking during a media briefing Wednesday, Motsoaledi said another 60 additional immigration law enforcement officers would be deployed to support the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) at identified high-risk areas along the borderline where people tend to cross illegally into SA.

In September, former foreign domestic worker Parti Liyani became a household name when she was acquitted of stealing from her wealthy and powerful employer.

It snowballed from a seemingly simple case of theft into a marathon nine-hour parliamentary debate last month about the fairness of the criminal justice system.
