Luis Aceves has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of his brother
VENTURA, Calif. - A Camarillo man has pleaded guilty to stabbing and killing his brother in a dispute in 2017.
Luis Aceves, 55, of Camarillo pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in court on Tuesday.
Aceves admitted to stabbing his younger brother, Gilbert Aceves, in their family home on April 6, 2017.
According to the Ventura County District Attorney s Office, the two were involved in an argument that turned into a physical altercation. During the fight, Luis Aceves grabbed a knife and stabbed Gilbert Aceves.
Gilbert Aceves was transported to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks where he was later pronounced dead. Luis Aceves was also taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and was later released.

OXNARD, Calif. – A plastic surgeon facing dozens of charges for sexually assaulting his patients died prior to the conclusion of his case.
Dr. David Michelson, 74, of Newbury Park died in an L.A.-area hospital on Friday, March 5, according to the Ventura County District Attorney s Office.
Michelson, a plastic surgeon with his own private practice, was facing 37 counts of sexual assault, allegedly committed against his patients.
Michelson was arrested in August 2020 and after word of his arrest was made public, numerous women came forward to accuse him of assault. Most of his alleged victims were Spanish-speaking women from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, specifically in Santa Maria. The prosecution of sexual assault charges against an Oxnard-based plastic surgeon has ended due to the suspect s death, the Ventura County District Attorney s Office said Thursday.
Dr. David Michelson, 74, of Newbury Park, was pronounced dead at a hospital in Los Angeles County on March 5. The District Attorney s Office did not provide a cause or manner for Michelson s death.
Michelson had first been arrested last August after a patient told authorities she was sexually assaulted during a medical exam. Through an ensuing investigation, 15 patients alleged Michelson had assaulted them between 2011 and 2019, and over 30 other victims had come forward with allegations of potential criminal activity, according to authorities.
A Simi Valley woman was convicted Thursday of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from her former employer, according to the Ventura County District Attorney s Office.
Tara Elaine Nykoluk, 45, of Simi Valley, was convicted by a jury on three counts of felony embezzlement and forgery. The jury also found the special allegation true that Nykoluk s crimes involved the theft of more than $100,000.
According to authorities, Nykoluk worked as a part-time bookkeeper for T&M Plumbing between 2006 to 2015. The company owner fired Nykoluk in 2015 after discovering she was using the company s debit card to make personal purchases.
Through an investigation, Nykoluk was found to have embezzled approximately $348,000 on more than 1,500 transactions over her eight years of employment. She used the funds to purchase vacations, meals from restaurants and other goods and services.
