LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Friday was irked when it transpired that the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) also claimed its ownership on a land of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) illegally occupied by the police.
“Now I understand as to why the police department has been reluctant to evacuate its possession from the land,” the chief justice said.

LAHORE:Pakistan has decided to provide free technical education to a group of children belonging to the minority Hindu and Sikh communities as part of a scholarship programme from the 2021 academic year, an official said on Saturday.
The decision was taken at the board meeting of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) which looks after the holy places of minorities in the country.

The Pakistan Hindu Council, while ensuring preparations to organize the annual combined marriages ceremony for deserving Hindu couples, faced various hurdles and uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Dr Noor-ul-Haq Qadri inaugurated the crematorium (Shamshan Ghat) in Lahore for Hindus and Sikhs to perform last rituals of their dead ones.
Earlier, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) had approved Rs14 million for upgrading of Shamshan Ghat established near Babu Sabu Chowk, Ravi River. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Secretary Admin Rashna Fawad, spokesperson board Amir Hashmi, Chairman Pakistan Hindu Welfare Council Dr Munawar Chand and all the members of the Evacuee Trust Property Board. The ETPB had built a crematorium on 34 kanals and 13 marlas of land to perform the last rites of Hindus and Sikhs in the outskirts of Lahore 18 years ago but the crematorium was completely destroyed by the floodwaters.
