WHITE PLAINS, NY To commemorate the one-year anniversary of Westchester County s first confirmed coronavirus case, a ceremony was held Wednesday in the lobby of the Michaelian Office Building
The lobby is the site of the county s Ribbons of Remembrance memorial.
To date, the county has lost more than 2,000 lives to the disease.

County Executive George Latimer said, in the past year, Westchester residents have rallied together in so many ways, but was imperative to take time to grieve and heal together.

County Executive Latimer will host a commemoration of the county’s first confirmed COVID-19 case at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the county office building in White Plains. The lobby now houses the county’s “Ribbons of Remembrance” memorial, which contains purple ribbons with the names of those loved ones have lost to COVID. More than 2,000 Westchester County residents have died from COVID-19. At noon, Latimer will lead the county in a moment of silence to remember them. In the evening, he’ll lead a countywide applause for healthcare workers. Latimer is also directing flags at all county facilities to be flown at half-staff.

After the announcement of nominees for both Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards, Westchester County Executive George Latimer confirmed seven award nominations in top categories went to productions that filmed right here in Westchester.
The HBO Max comedy, “The Flight Attendant,” starring Kaley Cuoco was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best musical comedy series. Cuoco also received Best Actress in a TV series, comedy or musical nomination.
Several scenes were filmed in Westchester, including the Motel 6 in Elmsford, The Galleria in White Plains and at a private residence on Buckout Road in West Harrison, according to Latimer.
