Wales has recorded one new coronavirus-related death and just 30 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. The latest data, published by Public Health Wales on Tuesday, May 11, brings the overall number of positive cases since the pandemic began to 211,961.
The total number of people to have died with coronavirus in Wales is now 5,557.
The seven-day infection rate across Wales as a whole now stands at 8.8, based on the number of new infections confirmed per 100,000 population in the week up to May 6 - a slight rise from 8.6 on Monday.
Dr Graham Shortland
Biography
Dr Graham Shortland qualified from the University of Southampton in 1983. He trained in NHS and academic posts in Southampton, Cardiff and Bristol.
He has published research in the areas of paediatric nutrition, inherited metabolic disease, medical education and clinical leadership. He continues in the role of consultant paediatrician in Cardiff (appointed 1993). He has undertaken varied clinical and leadership roles (Executive Medical Director for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, 2010 to 2019).
His main interest is inherited metabolic disease. UK-wide roles include 6 years as chairman of the British Inherited Metabolic Disease Group, and involvement in the introduction of new UK-wide newborn bloodspot screening programmes.

Wales has recorded four new coronavirus-related deaths and more than 100 confirmed cases in the last 48 hours. The latest data, published by Public Health Wales on Monday, May 10, recorded 104 new positive cases to bring the overall number since the pandemic began to 211,931.

Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.
The trust, which runs Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury Hospitals, will be run by Len Richards, who will join in October.
Mr Richards is currently the chief executive at the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, which he has led since 2017.
He will replace outgoing chief executive Martin Barkley,
Dewsbury and District Hospital
Mr Richards said: I am delighted to be joining the trust at what is such a critical time for the NHS. It is clear that Mid Yorkshire has made significant progress in recent years in improving services and creating a positive culture for staff.
