RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. The ripple of 2020 s global production shutdowns and unpredictable markets looks more like a tsunami in 2021, and it is stretching the Asia-to-U.S. supply chain to its limits as demand soars, Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. officials said recently.
Shipping containers are in short supply and so is space on ships. Companies lucky enough to get on a vessel likely paying premiums of at least 200 percent still have to wait out an extended process at U.S. ports, where COVID-19 restrictions and off-load demand have created a bottleneck.

SRNA increasing prices on Dunlop motorcycle tires

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. is increasing the price of Dunlop-brand motorcycle tires in the U.S. and Canada.
The increase will be between 2% and 10%, effective Feb. 15.
The tire maker cited increased costs in both transportation and labor in addition to other market factors as reasons for the increase.
Last November, SRNA announced price increases in the U.S. and Canada on Falken- and Ohtsu-brand consumer and medium truck tires. Prices of passenger and light truck tires increased by up to 8%, effective Jan. 1, while prices of medium truck tires rose up to 6%, effective Dec. 1.
Commerce OKs dumping duties on tires from Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

WASHINGTON The Department of Commerce has determined that passenger and light truck tires imported from South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam should be subject to anti-dumping duties ranging up to 98.44% depending on the country of origin.
Commerce s decision, published
Dec. 30, is in response to petitions filed in early May by the United Steelworkers Union (USW), which claim tire producers from these regions are dumping their products in the U.S. at margins ranging from as low as 5.48% (Vietnam) to as high as 217.5% (Thailand).
Commerce has ruled the following preliminary duties should be imposed:
