April Fool’s Day prank lands Wichita woman in jail A Wichita woman was arrested after calling a family member and claiming to be shot as an April Fool’s Day joke. Police were called to a report of a shooting at 8:30 Thursday morning in the 4800 block of East Arlene. Officers surrounded the home and blocked streets in the area and then tried to talk with people inside the home. They finally went into the home and found no one inside. A 58-year-old woman was later found in Derby and she was arrested by Derby police officers. She was booked into jail for unlawful request of emergency service assistance in violation of state law. Information on the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office for charges.

Police said around 8:30 a.m. local time Thursday, officers were called out to a shooting at a home in the 4800 block of East Arlene. Multiple officers responded to the call along with the Wichita Fire Department and Sedgwick County EMS.
