SCHENECTADY – City and county officials and community members interested in creating a safe, recreational space on Crane Street showed off work on an expanded one-acre park that once sat in the shadows of six dilapidated buildings.
Mayor Gary McCarthy described Orchard Park on Crane Street in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood as a pocket park.
“But it was like a pocket inside of two pair of jeans, wrapped in a pair of overalls, and left in the wash for a couple of weeks,” McCarthy quipped.

ALBANY – Jayme Lahut of Niskayuna has been re-elected the board chairman of the Capital District Transportation Authority.
It is the second one-year term for Lahut, who is executive director of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority. He is the first CDTA board chairman from Schenectady County since 1979. Lahut has been on the board since 2017.
“I’m pleased to continue to serve as chairman of the CDTA board of directors,” he said. “The past year has been filled with challenges to all industries, and I’m so impressed by the way the CDTA workforce has handled the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

ALBANY The executive director of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority will continue as chairman of the Capital District Transportation Authority for a second term, CDTA announced Wednesday. Jayme Lahut first joined the CDTA board in 2017.
Other board officers for fiscal 2022 include Vice-Chairperson Michael J. Criscione, representing Albany County; Treasurer David M. Stackrow, representing Rensselaer County; and Secretary Mark Schaeffer, representing Albany County.
