WASHINGTON, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) Virtual performances, interactive activities, and artist-led workshops . Vibrant celebrations streamed by a well-known U.S. museum on Saturday gave hundreds of families a glimpse of the Chinese Lunar New Year traditions.
The program, the seventh of its kind, was presented by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Renwick Gallery (SAAM) in partnership with the Chinese Embassy in the United States. Since the entire time I ve been in my position for about five years and Chinese New Year is one of our largest celebrations, Gloria Kenyon, senior public programs coordinator for the museum, told Xinhua in an interview.

Approximately 1.5 billion people across the globe are gearing up to celebrate one of the biggest holidays in East Asian cultures remotely, a far cry from the typical crowd-gathering festivities that usually accompany this day. Lunar New Year 2021 has arrived and the traditional forms of celebration are not as feasible with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In Orange County, all three major Tet festivals have been canceled: the Little Saigon Westminster Tet Parade, the Little Saigon Tet Parade in Garden Grove, and the UVSA Tet Festival at the OC Fairgrounds. Organizers for all three events are hoping to bring back live festivities next year.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A Lowcountry legend is continuing to keep a 300-plus-year tradition alive.
For this WMBF âBlack History Spotlight,â get to know Mary Jackson, an artist known for creating historic sweetgrass baskets.
Jackson is a native of Mt Pleasant, S.C. Her mother and grandmother taught her how to make baskets when she was just 4 years old.
Decades later, Jackson has been recognized for her sweetgrass baskets. Her art has been on display at numerous museums, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gibbes Museum of Art and The Museum of African American History in Detroit.
