BOSTON (
WBZ NewsRadio) Acting Boston Mayor Kim Janey has made it official she is running for a full term in the upcoming mayoral election in November.
Janey made the announcement in Nubian Square Tuesday morning. She said some of her some of her main messages will include fighting racial and economic inequalities, as well as fighting COVID-19. The work to address the challenges we face from COVID and racial inequalities, that have been inherited from centuries of structural racism, will take longer than a few months to change, Janey said.
Janey, 55, recently became the first black person and woman to serve as Boston Mayor when she was sworn in last month to take the place of U.S. Secretary of Labor and Former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.
