Express Catering Limited is making a cash outlay on new food courts at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
In the financial results posted for the second quarter ended November 30, 2020, Express Catering said fixed assets expenditure of US$128, 071($18.7 million) was mainly in connection with the development work to revamp the post-security food and beverage lounge that is being carried out by MBJ Airports.
“Being the dominant food and beverage provider, Express Catering will incur some of the cost for the relocation to a new food court, as well as additional costs for the new concepts to accompany the new court,” the company, led by CEO Ian Dear, said.

The number of seats available during December 2020 declined by 21.5% compared to December 2019; load factors for the month went from 78.8% in December 2019 to 67.5% in December 2020.

Jamaica has this week reported its highest seven-day cumulative arrival figures since reopening borders on June 15th.
Preliminary statistics from the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) show that for the period December 22nd-28th, just over 21,000 passengers arrived on the island.
The Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay welcomed 16,841 and 4,203 additional passengers arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
“This is welcome news for us as an industry as we see an uptick in visitor arrivals and close the year on a positive note.
“The Christmas holidays provided the destination a well-needed boost, which we hope will be an indicator of what we can expect in the New Year,” said Donovan White, Jamaica director of tourism.
