GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will chair his first cabinet meeting after taking an oath to the office today at 6 PM.
According to sources, with the rapid rise in the COVID-19 cases in Assam, the chief minister is likely to discuss stringent measures to curb the infection in the state.

GUWAHATI: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday flagged his ongoing battle against Covid-19 as the single top priority for now for the new government, which he assured will be a “proactive government” and will be available to the people 24X7.
Assam governor professor Jagdish Mukhi administered the oath of office to Himanta Biswa Sarma as the 15th chief minister of the state and to 13 cabinet ministers at the auditorium of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here on Monday.
Sarma as a health minister in the previous government had successfully and efficiently handled the first wave of the pandemic last year leading from the front and was back at the forefront fighting the second wave till a few days back.

GUWAHATI: On May 10, the 15th chief minister of Assam, Dr. Himanata Biswa Sarma took the oath of office.
On his maiden press conference after taking over as the CM of Assam at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Dr. Sarma said that the government will take up strong measures to curb the COVID infection and a decision will be taken after tomorrow s cabinet meeting.

Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Assam, along with 13 members of his cabinet, by Governor Jagdish Mukhi this afternoon. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by BJP National President J P Nadda and many other leaders of the party as well as opposition parties.
