Hudson County launches COVID-19 vaccine awareness campaign
Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise launched a new public awareness campaign featuring county residents, designed to increase acceptance of COVID-19 vaccines, particularly in communities of color.
The first video features Hudson County Director of Health & Human Services Darice Toon talking about why she decided to get the vaccine.
“Darice Toon’s message to Hudson County residents is both simple and powerful: ‘trust the science, be a part of the solution,’ and I commend her for speaking out about this incredibly important issue,” DeGise said. “In order to beat back this pandemic, we will need as many people as possible to get vaccinated, and that means confronting some very real and historically justified fears, particularly in Black and Latino communities. That’s exactly why this campaign is so important and why we are excited to start it today.”

Jersey City school district is preparing for a reopening. When can it happen? That’s the question
Updated Jan 31, 2021;
The Jersey City school district is working to get schools ready for an eventual reopening, but whether that happens before the end of the school year remains to be seen.
The district released a 330-page document on “Building Readiness,” detailing the actions taken and the costs of getting schools in shape to safely bring back students, who have been learning remotely since March 2020.
The document includes lists of the cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment the schools have on hand, air duct cleaning certificates, the results of indoor air quality tests completed by the Hudson Regional Health Commission, among other measures being taken.

“Due to the impending snow storm coming this Monday, out of an abundance of caution. We will be closing the Hudson County #COVID19 vaccination site located in Kearny at the USS Juneau,” the Hudson Regional Health Commission tweeted minutes ago.
“All persons that had appointments have been contacted by email and phone with their new date.”
The West Hudson location was the first county-run vaccination center in the state to open in late December, but like many other parts of the country, is now being hampered due to a dosage shortage.
